While many companies offer a cookie diet, Dr. Sanford Siegal is said to be the originator of the concept in 1975. Created to help patients of his Miami, Florida medical practice, Siegal Medical Group, control their hunger and stick to their diets. Dr. Siegal also offers shake mixes as meal replacement.
