So, it’s been 2 weeks. Did you miss me? I didn’t have much to say last week, so there was no Weekly Weigh In, or anything else, for that matter. Seems I just don’t have much time to post these days, and I had a fear it would turn into a little pity party after I gained again. However, I was oddly confident that this week was going to go well. We’ll talk about that in a second. Now on to this week’s headlines…
No, this is not a FitBloggin’ recap. I wasn’t there. Just couldn’t do it this year. But I want to thank all my twitter and instagram buddies for hashtaggin’ it up, so I (and a apparently a lot of others!) could live vicariously through you all! After seeing all that fun, it’s a must do for me next year! Mae, Dre, Dawn, Emily, Jodi, Becky, Brittany, Marissa… it’s on! Let’s all try to go next year! I am sure there are others that missed out this year that want to go that I didn’t interact with about it! Andrea, Jill, Karla, Marisol, Jen? I know there’s more I’m forgetting! Who’s with me?
Now, if you don’t have a clue what I’m talking about, FitBloggin’ is a conference for health and fitness bloggers. I’ve “virtually met” so many people that I would love to meet for realsies in person! The funny thing is, if you told me a few years ago that I would be all excited about a fitness and health event, not to mention spending money to travel to it, I would have told you that you were insane. Anyway, I’ve gotta carve some time out of my life to catch up on the FitBloggin’ session posts and everyone’s recaps! You too can pretend like you were there by doing the same thing.
RIP Google Reader
Google Reader is finito. And Bloglovin’ is, well, lovin’ it. I’m pretty sure I am not the first person to tell you this because I saw like 9000 tweets, blog posts, and emails about it. It was like the world was ending! So now I have to put in my 2 cents, right? Well, I’m not shedding a tear because I actually like Bloglovin’ better. You should check it out if you haven’t already. Now, if you have had your head stuck in the sand and are now freaking out that your list of fav blogs has disappeared, fear not. Even though you can’t use it to read blogs anymore, you can still download a copy of your data until July 15th.
Jillian is Kicking My Butt
Yep, people, it happened! I finally re-dedicated myself to, well, something! I started my personal Jillian Michaels Ripped in 30 challenge last Wednesday. Week 1 is done! That’s 6 days of working out! (Jillian insisted in the DVD that I must take a rest day each week, so I can’t argue with her!) I haven’t done that in a long time! And it’s kicking my ass in a good way! So I pulled a muscle in my neck, and I am sore, but I actually like it! I swear I can feel myself getting stronger already! And the good thing about having Jillian on a DVD and not in person, is that I can talk smack to her when I don’t like it. 😉 So here’s hoping that I can stick with it the next 3 weeks. At the end, I plan to give you the final details in a review, complete with before and after pics and stats!
Not only that, I ran 3 days this week. Not far, but I had to get back into it again. I was actually jonesing for a run last Thursday! I realized I hadn’t run since I did the Summerfest 5K on June 1st. Yikes! And me and “the boy” I am seeing are signed up for the Sandy Springs Lightning 10K/5K race in September. Well, he’s doing the 10K, I’m doing the 5K. I really want to do a 10K, but after realizing I had only run over 6.2 miles twice in my life, and that was when I was running almost everyday, not to mention my inability to stick to a training plan that involves that much running right now, I didn’t want to set myself up for failure. Besides, I think “the boy” can run a 10K in almost the same amount of time I can do a 5K right now! (so sad!)
So all that working out paid off! I lost 2.5 lbs this week, and I owe it all to that! Well, ok, I did eat right I’d say maybe like 70% of the week?!? Which is much better than the last few weeks… maybe months! I kept track of most of it, but I’m not going to even tell you how many points I was over this week, for fear of people hating me for still losing weight! LOL There were definitely total failure moments of binging or just eating empty calories instead of choosing healthier options. I get down on myself for that, but I know I’m not perfect! And not eating perfectly actually gave me more motivation to workout! I had to make up for it! I think about other blogs that elude to the same idea… I Run For Wine, I Run For Donuts, Lisa Runs For Cupcakes, Dom Will Run For Beer, Will Run for Pasta… to name a few!… and I think, can I be all of the above? Maybe I can give into my temptations if I keep this stuff up? Maybe I need to change my blog to “Working Out For Butter and Booze?” LOL
But seriously, I know I am now only 6.4 lbs up from goal, but if I am that girl who still wants her butter and her booze too (sometimes, not all the time!), a goal weight of 125 may be unrealistic. I had to put it in perspective, so I looked through my weight logs, and I realized that I have been in a health weight range (under 146 lbs at 5’4″) since May of 2012! Now that is something to be proud about! So what if I’m not exactly at goal! I then hit up Google for some ideal weight calculators, and I found Self’s Happy Weight Calculator. After a few questions, it told me my happy weight was 131. Hmmm. Guess I am pretty happy today. So I’m still reconsidering this whole goal weight thing…
Now I hope everyone enjoys their 4th of July! It’s supposed to rain here all day tomorrow! So if you have nice weather, enjoy it for me!
